Nature restoration powered by electric

The HiSun Sector Beast® has proven to be hit with wildlife and habitat restoration business Nattergal. It’s been a rugged performer in their various land management tasks.

When Nattergal took on the running of 617ha of arable land, now called Boothby Wildland in Lincolnshire, with the intention of restoring it to its natural habitat, they needed a reliable and rugged vehicle to transport the team. Electric power was the most sustainable choice, and they eventually settled on The Beast® in 2022.

The farm is being phased out of arable production, and the land is gradually returning to its natural state. Animals will then be reintroduced to further the development of the new ecosystem, returning this beautiful landscape to a fully natural and self-sustaining ecosystem.

“As 617ha of land that’s transitioning into an amazing rewilded landscape, we needed to have a vehicle that was fit for purpose to enable us to move around safely and efficiently,” says Lorienne Whittle, landscape recovery project manager at Nattergal. “The Beast® is just that: it’s very practical and easy to clean and maintain, plugs straight into the wall socket in our garage, is simple to learn how to drive, and being road taxable means we can utilise the roads around the site too.

“We’ve used the winch mechanism to help move small fallen trees, tested its ability to get through some pretty churned-up clay, and the back has enough room to carry necessary equipment around the estate.”

As Nattergal is a new nature recovery investment company, it is frequently asked about its environmental footprint. They are independently audited for their carbon emissions. “It’s great to talk about the decision to purchase The Beast®, and everyone is keen to know more about it. Having The Beast® has also made us consider how to encourage further electric car use as a company.

“The Beast® is probably one of the most photographed things at Boothby Wildland – everyone who gets to ride in it, sporting their stormtrooper-like helmet, wants a photo. It’s lots of fun to move around the site and helps us get quickly to further corners off the beaten track.”
