Ready, Set… Go Electric at Sandringham!

We’ve just taken part in the Run Sandringham event on Father’s Day, Sunday 20th June. On this occasion we chose not to take part as athletes, but instead as sponsors providing the event organisers with a selection of our electric utility vehicles for quick and safe travel around the royal estate.

Perfect for the slightly damp weather, our UTVs provided transport for staff to travel around the royal estate and helped ensure the smooth running of the day’s itinerary to co-ordinate three separate races – the 5k, the half marathon and the community run.

Our UTVs had some very important jobs on the day. The Electric Wheels’ fleet included the provision of three UBCO 2×2 Work Bikes; used by the event director and the event’s official photographers. Two HiSun 4×4 Electric Work Buggies. These robust all-terrain vehicles were tasked with travelling around the estate to set up the route and signage for each of the organised races.

One of our newest products, The Beast led the runners on both the 5K and the half marathon around the course with our very own engineer Martin on a work bike taking the lead.

Finally, the event’s team also had use of two six-seater electric golf buggies. These were used specifically to transport the event marshals to their positions at specific times around the course.

Aaron Murrell, race organiser commented on the sponsorship: “I can’t thank Electric Wheels enough, we simply couldn’t have done it without them!”

Electric Wheels MD, Will Hinks also commented. “Despite the gloom, it was basically dry, and judging by the social media feedback, all attendees looked to be having a great time. There was even a surprise visit from Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte who took part in the count down to start the half marathon. A great day had by all!”

The next Run Sandringham event takes place on Sunday 26th September, we plan to be back to show our support once more and lead the way for those running on the day.
